Payment Guarantee Scams with JDM Cars Japanese Used Cars Export Payment Fraud -

We notice there are many sites encouraging you to use credit cards and "guaranteeing" a refund if there are any problems or sometimes just if you don't receive the car.  But we'll explain how they "get around this guarantee".  We challenge you to find any cases or customers who were ever able to get refund on a bad car they got.

You may think that your credit protects you, however, one thing that any merchant knows is that for physical goods, especially for something like a car, it is often not going to help.

Many times your credit card company will side with the seller and say "you got the car" and "it's used" and "these are quality issues" but you did get the car.  Does that sound familiar such as many times you may try to do a chargeback on a bad hotel?

In our experience it is even harder with cars, and once your Exporter shows the BOL (Bill of Lading), with your name and address on it, there is now proof the car was shipped.

Above is an example from another site of a guarantee (we do not allege anything negative about the source of this image)

What can you expect?  If  you never receive the car, then yes it is likely you can get your money back right?  However, what if the Exporter stalls and for some reason doesn't ship the car until the chargeback period is over?  Then you'll be out of luck.  In fact, we argue many Exporters who get paid by credit card will stall this way, knowing they are sending a bad car and that you won't be able to do a chargeback by the time you receive the car and notice the issues.

In addition, you will often be agreeing to not doing a chargeback and that you accept the risk and condition of the vehicle, even for undescribed faults.

The best protection in our opinion, is a good and honest Exporter.  Anyone telling you "it is risk free" and a "guaranteed quality car" is likely not being honest.
